PROJECTS
This is a list of projects that Jonah Lee Walker and Whale of a Tale Productions are working on, not including editing and graphics projects for other companies. These are our own projects that we are working on, and hope to complete in the near future.
Untitled Puppet Project
My good friend from USC Film School, Jared Baker, who is also a union special effects technician, and the director of the short film Stephen which I edited, shot and did the special effects and audio mixing on, and I have been spending some time creating some foam puppets, and are working on doing a web cast with movie and video game reviews, aimed at an adult audience. You can view some photos of our puppets under construction at my .Mac Web Gallery, and can even subscribe to an RSS feed for when I add new photos on the site.
In the video section I also have my test footage, which is my first attempt at puppeteering, and so is pretty elementary, but it gives a good idea of what we are trying to do.
Untitled Horror Projects
Jared and I are also working on putting together a couple of low budget horror films. We have been throwing around 2 or 3 ideas, and Jared has begun working on one of them. I plan on developing a second one. We will then shoot one sequence of the whichever project we get done first, and then attempt to shop it around and get some funding.
Phishing for Revenge
Afterworking extensively on Jared Baker's short STEPHEN (which I shot, edited, did the effects and a lot of sound work), I decided it was time to start doing my own projects, and I plan on doing a few a year. I started this one with what I have, some great looking airsoft guns, and a few locations, and worked back from there. This is a tale of revenge set over the very realistic tale of mafia control of the Phishing which is becoming more and more rampant in today's cyberworld. It is a pretty simple tale, designed to shoot some action and blood effects, and should be fun. The revenge aspects are heavily influences by all the Shaw Brother's films I have been watching of late, and particulary the films of directors like Chang Cheh who pushed the Wuxia film to new levels.
I hope for this to have Nain Doporto playing a villain much like he did in my Heaven's Fury Comic, and have Ashanti Luke either playing the hero or one of the thugs (Jared will also be a thug in the film when he isn't helping me work on it).
