Jonah Lee Walker

Whale of a Tale Production's is a small Post Production Company based in Hollywood, CA. The company was started by Jonah Lee Walker in 2002 when he began working as a freelance video editor on the Lord of the Rings Special Edition DVD's.

Whale of a Tale currently has a Power Macintosh G5 Based Final Cut Pro Editing system, with over 2 TB's of Hard Drive space, and a Sony DVCAM DSR-20 Deck and Sony NTSC 16x9 Monitor. We are skilled in both Fnal Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer, as well as Apple Motion, Apple Soundtrack, Adobe After Effects, Invigirator Pro, Magic Bullet, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Synthetik Studio Artist and Apple Shake.

Jonah Lee Walker is a Marthas Vineyard, Massachusetts Native who graduate with an Bachelor's degree in Cinema and Television Production from University of Southern California Film school in 1996, Jonah Lee Walker has been working as a professional editor and After Effects artist since 2002 when he began working on the LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING EXTENDED EDITION DVD, and continued on to work on all 3 film's in the Trilogy.

He worked on Peter Jackson's KING KONG SPECIAL EDITION DVD, including travelling to New Zealand, and setting an editing workflow to facilitate the web documentaries at Kong is King as well as editing a couple of the documentaries himself.

He has also done DVD documentary editing for Deluxe Digital Studios in Burbank working on AVID Media Composer on Merridian systems, most recently editing and doing all the Green Screen work for the Behind the Scenes featurettes on Werner Herzog's latest release, RESCUE DAWN, and has also worked on the SAW and Ferngully Special Edition DVD's, The Pebble and The Penguin, The Wood, The Secret of NIMH and Borderland, as well as doing graphics for the SAW 3 DVD and working on a graphics heavy sizzle real for Deluxe Creative.

Jonah also edited for BET on the reality show REMIX as well asCharlotte's Web EPK material for Serena Yang Productions.

Jonah worked on the Blue Ray Special Editions of HAIRSPRAY and the Messenger at Automat Pictures for Producers Jeffrey Schwarz and Katy Leigh, as well as other products like Spectacular Spiderman, Sex and the City the Movie and graphics for the Stars Documentary In The Gutter.

Jonah has also done work as a consultant for HD production, and as a Macintosh Technical consultant, as well as serving as a Special Effects coordinator and Shake Artist for the music video "Devils' Drink" for the band The Idaho Falls with director Tara Veneruso.

Jonah has also done After Effects title sequences for the Borderland Documentary and the Up In Smoke Documentary (which also included Lower Thirds), and extensive green screen work on the aforementioned Rescue Dawn DVD.

Previous to his work as editor, Jonah worked as a Multimedia Producer, dealing with video, and video compression for Warner Bros. New Media, giving him extensive knowledge of web and DVD compression techniques, as well as a solid grounding in Final Cut Pro and Applescript.

Before working at Warner Bros. Jonah worked in Commercial Production, first as a Production Assistant, and then for a couple of years as a Production Coordinator, learning all the necessary skill of organization, budgeting and scheduling necessary to commercial production, giving him an advantage as a leader and team player when working at any editing company.

Jonah is a total tech head, especially when it comes to Macintosh Computers, and Digital Video editing. He spends much of his free time learning all he can about the latest Video software, and is always reading and keeping up with the latest technology.

Jonah has also served as a panelist for the IFP Los Angeles Digital Seminar, for a discussion of Desktop Digital Effects in 2004, and more recently was a speaker at a Colloqium for the University of Central Florida, Summer Film Internship Program in Conjunction with UCLA with Proffessor Robert Jones.
