The Little Rascals Collection 5 DVD Set
27 December 2006My mom and I decided to start a new Christmas tradition, which is to get some OUR GANG and or LITTLE RASCALS DVD’s and have fun over the holidays watching them and laughing together, and this was the first year, and we had a wonderful time. We ended up looking up so much history of OUR GANG online and finding out the horrible lives so many of these child cars had. This collection is interesting because 3 discs of it are in fact the original OUR GANG group, and most are in fact silent, which I had never seen, but were quite interesting and absolutely hysterical! The final disc has a 50’s reunion of the new gang and a documentary on kids in cinema with very little on Our Gang.
It is so interesting how even at this time, while the characterizations can sometimes be totally politically incorrect, I love how the white and black kids play together with no notice of race.
This like all OUR GANG is quite fun, and you will bust your sides and have a wonderful time watching these little guys.
The first 3 discs feature Ernie “Sunshine Sammy” Morrison, Jackie Condon, Allen “Farina” Hoskins who is sometimes shown as a girl and sometimes a boy, Joe “Fatty” Cob, Mickey Daniels with all his freckles and Mary Kornman. It was cool to see Mickey Daniels and Mary Kornman who we had previously seen another Hall Roach Comedy from years later called THE BOYFRIENDS, where Mickey and Mary looked exactly the same.
The 4th disc features the gang that most people are more used to with George “Spanky” McFarland, Billie “Buckwheat” Thomas, Carl “Alfalfa” Switzer, Eugene “Porky” Lee, Matthew “Stymie” Beard, Jackie Cooper, Darla Hood and Billy “Froggy” Laughlin in some later adventures.
YOU CAN’T GO WRONG WITH ANY OF THESE COMEDIES AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!!
