Six Feet Under Second Season (2002)
4 March 2005The first and second season’s of this show were really excellent, and this second season is really spectacular. Much better than what the show has become, just a soap opera. It was still really edgy and enjoyable. And what a spectacular ending, it is just too bad that it went into the next season and fizzled.
Contains Spoilers.

In this season we Kroner still trying to buy out Fisher and sons, unsuccessfully, but that doesn’t end the Fisher’s problems. Nate (Peter Krause) has learned he has AVM in his brain, and at the season finale is going in for brain surgery. Much of this season is about his relationship with Brenda Chenowith (Rachel Griffiths) who proposes to him, but really starts losing it and starts having random sex with strangers, which eventually splits them up. Nate freaks out after having a seizure while picking up a body in Seattle, and has sex with his old friend Lisa Kimmel (Lili Taylor) who gets pregnant, moves to LA and has the kid. David (Michael C. Hall) is lonely and still in love with Keith (Mathew St Patrick) who is in another relationship, but eventually they get back together. Keith loses his temper and beats a suspect, and is suspended from the police force. Ruth (Frances Conroy) has a relationship with the Russian florist that doesn’t work out. She also gets drawn into a reaffirmation cult for a while, but gets out of it. Clair (Lauren Ambrose) has trouble with her felonious boyfriend who eventually disappears, as well as school problems, and meets Ruth’s tripped out sister, but eventually decides on going to art college. Federico Diaz (Freddy Rodriguez) ends up buying a house, and inherits $140,000.00 from a friend, and invests it into Fisher and sons to become a partner and save the business from closing.
This show is all about the characters and their interaction. And you really grow to love these characters.
This season has my favorite episode, “IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR.” With the biker funeral on Christmas day, and the biker’s girlfriend who gives Nate her dead boyfriends motorcycle. Too bad he sells it once he gets married in the next season.
This is a very enjoyable show, and this was when it was at it’s best, before it started becoming more and more like a soap opera, and less like the edgy show that it started off as.
