Resident Evil Apocalypse by Alexander Witt (2004)
Yea I know I shouldn’t have expected anything, but somehow I actually kind of enjoyed the first film. It wasn’t great, but it was an OK zombie film, with some cool action. Now this movie was just bad. Cheap and bad. It had it’s moments, but it was bad. I meant the cast was good, the story wasn’t bad, and I kind of dig the ending, but really the best part was the teaser. That and the casting wasn’t bad. Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine and Oded Fehr as Carlos Olivera were certainly good casting choices. My biggest question is how can an R rated Zombie film be so damn tame? Milla Jovavich was cool though.

This is a direct sequel to the original Resident Evil film, and it actually starts a little before, explaining what happened in Racoon city, and introducing Kill Valentine and Carlos Olivera, before getting back to the now superhuman Alice played by Milla Jovavich. The whole Racoon city is quarantined to stop the spread of the T-Virus, and the Nemesis (the other survivor from the first film) is activated to fight Alice to see which is superior. Now the Nemesis is the worst thing in this movie. It looks worse than the Toxic Avenger, but with big lame looking guns. Man hasn’t this director seen any action movies. At least make him move more like the predator or something, this guy was slow like Robocop. Damn lame. And the action sucks too. All shot American style with way too many close ups and too many cuts, so you can barely see what is going on. Someone should have sat this guy down and showed him some Hong Kong movies!
The story is lame, but it is a video game, and was fine for that, it was just that this film is done with zero style. And I mean none. I mean they have cranes and shit, but they are never used well. And there are random bad guys in a church that are never explained.
Go see SAUN OF THE DEAD. That is a much better Zombie film!!!
