Meat Loaf’s Hang Cool Tour at the Gibson Amphitheatre

I have been a fan of Meat Loaf since I was a little kid, and have always wanted to see him in concert, though of late once I had the money the tickets seemed absorbently priced, but when we saw them for $10 on Goldstar we jumped on them even though Kelly was sick. And I sure hope they made back their money and made some money because this was an incredible show. Not only was Meat Loaf amazing (if his voice is this good at 62, how would have sounded in his 20′s), but his stage show was spectacular, I mean 2 huge balloon figures, fireworks, flames! This is an amazing show, and would have been easy worth $50 a ticket! I want to see him next time around too!

The started by stalking the stage with a pink guitar with a cancer awareness badge on it, and a tiny little amp that when it played it exploded into fireworks! Oh yea!

And of course it didn’t hurt that Meatloaf first song was What Ever Happened to Satuday Night from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, of which I have been a huge fan since I was a kid.

Then his third song was Bat out of Hell with a giant inflatable Bat with glowing red eyes that popped up behind them! Wow!IMG_0115.JPG IMG_0116.JPG

After the third song they did a three song set from the new album Hang Cool Teddy Bear, then it was back to hits from the first album till now. One after another, all done amazingly well. Meatloaf’s voice if fantastic. It is amazing a 62 year old can still do that.

Meatloaf didn’t even leave before the encore, he was almost gone, but then just riled up the fans and stalked and got the fans to go crazy, and the band came back!

And of course we got to hear Paradise by a Dashboard Light with a huge inflatable woman with an inflatable guy behind her fondling her breasts! My favorite song and it was amazing!

They did one cover near the end that I did not recognize, but ended the show with All Revved up with No Place to Go!

Sure this is more like a stage show than say a Pearl Jam concert, where the banter is real, and the set is different every night. Here I have a feeling the only thing different is the song they cover at the end of the show, but that is OK, because it is Meatloaf, and I love his songs, and at 62 he is still going strong! I am so glad i got to see him!

What a great show!
