Kung Fu Soccer, Hong Kong Soap Opera (2005)
4 October 2005This show was so much fun, sure it doesn’t ever have real soccer going on, it has a lot more in common with Shaolin Soccer, than anything to do with actual soccer. And the cast, damn this show has a cast, it seem so many people at least make cameos in it, the Twins, and so many people show up it is like a whose who in Hong Kong right now. What a fun show, I am kind of sad that it over, but not sure if I will watch the next on as I want to catch up on some DVD’s and 45 minutes a day will certainly help me do that!

Dicky Cheung plays Shiao Shun,

a slightly brain damaged youth with no short term memory to speak of, who lives with his sister played by Sandra Ng,

who is a crazy Kung Fu master who though wounded, continues to go around and fight other Kung Fu masters, as she takes care of her brother in their small village in China. Shao Shun is only friends with a girl who works at a school played by Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin,

who introduces him to a former Soccer player, who wants to create a Chinese Soccer team who play using Kung Fu. The couch is played by Anthony Wong Chau Sang.

The brother and sister get a pass to move to Guanzhou, and they do, where they meet up Anthony Wong again, who eventually convinces the sister to allow Shao Shun to captain his soccer team, though he must get him healed, so he enlists a beautiful Chinese Doctor to help with ancient methods, but first the sister hires the beautiful, but spoiled and money grubbing Joey Yung Tso Yi

and her best friend (the one on the right, the one in the middle is the head of the cheer leaders who falls for the sales man)

to take care of Shiao Shun, as she is the only one he remembers what she says. She is always tricking him, and going to work on commercials and stuff.
Slowly the team begins to form, with different martial artists, including Jerry Lam Hiu Fung as the goalie and their chef. A Man with an Iron head, a qi jong master who only wants money and women, a very good looking and rich man who can run in the air, and brings along a retinue of cheer leaders, one who falls for the sales man who also can do evasive kung fu, and finally Chapman To as a man who knows Juijitsu and also loves the strange looking leader of the cheer leaders, and dies to save the salesman. The sister dies from her injuries, and Shiao Shun is cured, and they get a new sponsor who loves him. Joey Yung leaves to marry a rich man, who turns out to be a liar, but she is cast out, and Shiao Shun pretends not to remember her, though he does, and she changes, and becomes hard working and goes to school.
The soccer team starts to do very well, and is on it’s way to getting first place, but the coach’s brother, a soccer star with his own teams now, won’t let him win. He thinks his wife still loves Anthony Wong, though she doesn’t, and starts his own evil soccer team to defeat them, even turning their own players against them through treachery, or kidnapping of Jerry Lambs wife and child. And the Shaolin Soccer team loses one match and it’s sponsors, but manages to win a second time, but because of all the injuries is kicked out of soccer, unless they can win in a match without kung fu, which of course they do, and go on to be amazing players.
Joey Yung meets a photographer while working at McDonalds and is going to marry him, but hears Shiao Shun talking on the radio on how he loves her, and goes back to him, and her friend hooks up with the rich player, the strange looking girl gets beautiful and hooks up with the salesman, and the couch teaches children soccer.
This show was great and so much fun!
