HDNET World Report (2006+)
21 December 2006After startting to watch the excellent DAN RATHER REPORTS on this channel and becoming enamored with HD news, I decided to watch this HDNET news program, and I am sold. This like Dan Rather’s show is more like 60 minutes than a standard news program with long segments on each issue, and each is well done and edited and all have stunning HD Photography. This is a must see if you have an HDTV
I have watched 2 episodes of this excellent show, the first was SOUTH AFRICA AT THE CROSSROADS which was an entire episode on the current state of things in South Africa, from the AIDs epidemic, the horrible poverty, and also covering the issues of the new minority the Afrikaners. This is the best report I have seen on current conditions in SOUTH AFRICA ever.
The second episode I watched was on NASA and the latest Shuttle Mission STS 116 in Stunning HD. WOW! This is how shuttle launches should be seen! It also is on Germany and the problems of the united Germany, with Neo-Nazis, Radical Muslims and the differences in finances between the rich and the poor and the East and West Germans, with many east German’s still feeling like second class citizens, and west Germans not wanting to spend more money rebuilding the East. This is of special interest in those interested in Korea, because a re-unification will certainly hurt the economy of the country. It also deals with Foster homes and kids ending up homeless.

I just watched an excellent episode which started on American Deserters who are hiding in Canada because they no longer believe in the war in Iraq. A powerful story that I have not heard told before, about the people, and the people who were Vietnam draft dodgers who are helping them, but they are in a different situation because of the fact that they are actually deserters.
It also had a very interesting, though sad story on the 6 year drought going on in Australia, where farmers are committing suicide in droves, and the people who are trying to help them.
