Ghost in a Shell Stand Alone Complex 2nd SAC (2004)
Wow. I have loved everything GHOST IN A SHELL that I have seen, but was surprised by the fact that this second season actually seemed to top the first season and the laughing man story-line. Sure it isn’t as violent or surreal as the Oshii films of the same name, but this had some hands on by Masamune Shirow which brings it own complexity to the storyline. I must say these 2 series are some of the best anime I have ever seen. I hope they do another season and soon! Check it out on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network if you haven’t seen it as of yet!
REVIEW
CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS…

Major Motoko Kusanagi returns with Bateau and the rest of Section 9 for a new adventure. The laughing man events are over, but Japan is still in turmoil. A new government has been formed with a Female Prime Ministerm but their are huge problems of refugees from the wars that are kept on an island connected only by a bridge to Japan. A group of terrorists named the Group of 11 show up and are part of the issue, causing terrorist acts, and releasing a virus that can cause suicide in people with electronic brains, but one of the 11 does not kill himself and seems to be leading the refugees in a war of independence, but he is not alone. A man named Goda from Internal Security is pulling the strings and wants to completely destroy the refugees with nuclear weapons, ones that were supposed to go to the refugees or ones from a secret Japanese Nuclear sub.
In this season we see the return of the Takimochis, and the questioning of their existence and souls, and not only more about the major’s past, and why she was cyborged as a child, but also about other members of her team, and how they joined her during the war.
This series is bad ass! I want the soundtracks! Kick ass! I can’t recommend this more!
