Entourage Season 1 created by Dough Ellin (2004)

30 June 2006

I have to admit I didn’t watch this show when it came on, in fact I didn’t get into it until the second season, but instantly loved it, and quickly watched the rest of it. This is a great show and is so spot on Hollywood, from the places they go to the people and how they act, and the fact that so many stars make cameos just makes it so much more realistic. Mark Walberg did a good job with this idea. The cast is great and this is really a must see, I hope it does better than Sex and the City because this show is so much better! How can anyone survive without a little Johnny Drama in their lives? Ha.

REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS…p>

Entrourage is the story of the new it boy actor in Hollywood Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his entourage of friends from Queens, New York who have tagged along with him for the ride. There is his ostensible agent Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly) who is a bit over his head as he was a night manager at Sbarro back home. Vincent’s half brother Johnny “Drama” Chase (Kevin Dillon in all of his glory) an actor who used to do Beverly Hills 90210 and was the lead on the cancelled show Viking Quest, but hasn’t really done anything in 3 years. Then there is the pot smoking, car driving Turtle (Jerry Ferrara). Vincent also has a bitchy puplicist named Shauna (Debi Mazar) and his asshole agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven). Vincent has just done an action film with Jessica Alba called Head On that is coming out, and they are working on getting his next job and hoping the movie does well.

Much of the show is about Eric struggling with his job, which he works hard for, but gets shit from Ari and Shauna all the time for not controlling Vinny well enough. He also has a psycho ex who he won’t let go of, and who keeps messing with him, even when he starts seeing Emily (Samaire Armstong) who is Ari’s new secretary.

When Head On gets an awful variety review Eric gets tons of shit, as they should have booked the next movie before the first one came out, but Eric has turned down the script Ari wanted to do which went to Collin Feral. Then they get another script from a low level agent who used to be Ari’s secretary, who tries to steel Vincent, but Ari wins and vows to destroy him. The movie is a low budget called QUEENS BOULEVARD, which is just how they grow up. The producers don’t want to even talk to Vincent, but when it turns out he was weed when the whole town was dry (he got it from a yoga girl he is seeings Sherpa (played by Val Kilmer) Vincent gets the job. Then Eric has trouble with the Sundance winning director Billy Walsh (Rhys Coiro) who fucks with them and puts in a scene with Vincent getting head form a guy, but it is just to fuck with him. Vincent takes the job, which is only a $60,000 paycheck.

Eric and Vincent fight because Eric wants to become Vincent’s official manager at 10% of his pay, and get some reel responsibility and he proves himself as they are leaving for New York by getting Vincent a call from Scarlet Yohansen.

So many great cameos, this show is awesome and so well done. A really good and enjoyable show and I am currently loving the 3rd season that is airing right now.
