American Gangster reminds me yet again what a versatile actor Russell Crowe is… plus Ridley Scott deftly leads us into loving the bad guy and disliking the good guy only to flip that around by the end of the movie… very clever.

I loved this movie too. It reminded me a bit of The Truman Show, what with the realization that he is not in control of his fate, and then the subsequent attempts to get others to understand why he thinks that someone else is controllling everything. I’m definitely buying this one. I also thought Queen Latifah was excellent as the assistant.

Hey Jonah,

After speaking to you at your Dad’s and Molly’s, I decided to use your blog to find new movies. Let you know how it works out. I just watched Lucky Number Slevin and I saw your dad had it on Netflix. Let me know what you guys think. I am not a big Josh Hartnett fan(looks to much like a young Tommy Lee Jones), but I thought it was a nice flick. Kept me guessing……….but I am not the pro. Let me know what you think.

here from blogexplosion. Surprised you didn’t mention MOVIE TONIGHT. . . one of the best episodes ever, mostly plotless, but a nice story about how a group of strangers becomes a family, and how the prospect of simply watching an old movie brings so much joy to the war-weary characters. If you haven’t seen that one yet, I think you will really like it.

Great taste!

I don’t know… I’m kinda cautious about Little Children now. A lot of people whose opinion I trust don’t seem to be fond of the film, to say the least.

I’ll still see it for Winslet though.
