40 Days and 40 Nights by Michael Lehmann (2002)

Honestly I don’t really know why I like this film, well I guess I do, and it only has to do with Shannyn Sossamon, who I findincredibly beautiful. I don’t even watch the big scene at the end, just fastforward over it, because it is so lame, but I guess I do like the romancewithout a kiss or touch, except flowers. I guess the film is kind of cute, butreally not a good film, still I own theDVD.

REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS…

Josh Hartnett plays Matt Sullivan acatholic boy working at an internet firm who cannot get over his ex girlfriend,so gets an idea when talking to his brother John (Adam Trese) who is trainingfor the seminary, which is to give up sex, masturbation, everything to do withsex for lent, or 40 days and 40 nights. Of course he quickly meets Erica(Shannyn Sossamon) at the laundromat and falls for her, and goes on a date, butwon’t kiss her goodbye. She stills like him, but what he doesn’t know is thathis friends have started a web site and dating pool for him, and Erica works asa cybernanny checking sites for adult content, so she finds out before he cantell her. She wants to break it off, but he can’t stay away from her, and theyeventually have a date where he gets her off with flowers. His ex comes backinto the picture and when she finds out about the bet, she plots to make himlose, and Matt is in bed tied up, waiting for Erica, and his ex comes and sleepswith him, ruining everything. Of course a month later he is still pursuingErica, and has left her a really nice present, and he meets her at thelaundromat, and finally kissesher.

Stupid, yes, but damn she is cute.Does everyone in San Fran work in the internet? No, must have been writtenbefore the first crash! Ha.
