Greg the Bunny IFC Best of Film Parodies by Sean Baker, SPencer Chinoy and Dan Milano (2005)
17 September 2007After the FOX show was cancelled, these guys made the jump to IFC, and back to older less complicated puppets for Greg and Count Blah. Here they do low budget movie parodies, and some of them are hysterical, though they have a much different tone than the TV show. This is a much darker world, and done much more in a back room, with mostly handheld cameras and a lot grittier. It is obvious they had a much smaller budget. Still fun to see more of Greg and especially Warren who is really highlighted here. Dan Milano does a great job playing them and everyone else in this, though it does feel like it is missing some of the spark of the FOX show. Still worth checking out, but certainly not the same.
This is a 2 DVD set and includes commentaries on all 14 episodes, some deleted scenes and a gag reel as well as photo galleries.
They parody Pulp Fiction, Easy Rider (a personal favorite), Annie Hall, Barton Fink, 2001 A Space Odyssey (this one rules too), Fargo (which is actually more of a complete Cohen Brother’s parody and quite funny), Auto Focus, Down by Law, Ed Wood, The Godfather, Eraserhead (disturbing as all hell) and Natural Born Killers as well as an Episode on Count Blah.
These guys are certainly out of their minds.
Hmm, need to write some puppet stuff for Jared and my Puppet show, and we might do parodies as well. Need to get writing on that!!
