Jackie by Pablo Larraín (2016)

Even having grown up on Marthas Vineyard where Jackie O lived, I never cared that much. And while this film does show the poise with which she handled her husbands death, it didn’t draw me in, and in fact bored me at times. I didn’t feel like it was filmed at the white house either, and the attempt to make the film look period through low quality film pulled me away instead of drawing me into the film. And the gratuitous recreation of the horrific assassination of President Kennedy, is too much and too disgusting. Honestly this film feels like the Oscar bate that it is. An attempt to get Natalie Portman a best actress nomination. It wasn’t bad, but not very good, and really not worth seeing.
