A Post Production Company

Whale of a Tale Productions is a small Post Production Company based in North Hills, CA, in the Valley north of Los Angles.

The Company has been around since 2002 when Jonah Lee Walker started working as a Freelance Video Editor on the Lord of the Rings Special Editions DVD's.

Jonah is a an editor and graphics artist, and is skilled in the use of AVID Media Composer, Final Cut Pro 7, Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5 (with CUDA Video acceleration on his system), Adobe After Effects CS 5.5, Primatte Keyer and the rest of the Red Giant Keying Suite, Trapcode Particular, Trapcode 3D Stroke, Trapcode Shine, Trapcode Starglow, Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator Pro, Magic Bullet Suite 11 and is experienced in Video Compression (having learned it at Warner Bros. Online just before starting Whale of a Tale Productions).

Whale of a Tale currently runs on a Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.2.6 GHz with 24GB of RAM and a CUDA enable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 with 1GB of Video RAM. We currently run Final Cut Pro 7, Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5, Adobe After Effects CS5.5 and various plugs-ins for the various suits including Plural Eyes for Premiere Pro for Audio sync, and are considering AVID Media Composer 5.5 as our next addition.

We shoot our footage on both a Canon 60D and an Canon HV20 HDV Camcorder.

Jonah has cut narrative stories, behind the scenes, reality, and direct response, and has years of experience with motion graphics and green screen compositing. He is an advanced user of Final Cut Pro and is skilled in many 3rd party plugs in and has had experience with Apple Shake and Apple Color, and is always learning new software.

Jonah Lee Walker is a native Islander, having been born on Marthas Vineyard Island off the coast of Massachusetts. At age 17 he moved to Southern California and attended the University of Southern California School of Cinema and Television, graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Cinema and Television Production.

Jonah had already been working in Commercial Production as a Production Assistant during his summers at USC, and after graduation he quickly moved into Assistant Coordinating and then into Production Coordinating as well as some Art Department Coordination.

After that Jonah went to work at Warner Bros. Online and worked doing editing and video compression.

From there Jonah got into editing and graphics on the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition DVD's, including running the assistant departments, and writing custom search software to search through the tons of logs needed to edit the extensive behind the scenes for these films.

He also worked on Peter Jackson's King Kong Special Edition DVD, including traveling to New Zealand to setup the editing for the Production Diaries, cutting a few himself and having Jackson personally approve them.

Jonah worked on various other behind the scenes pieces including the award winning Hairspray DVD.

Jonah has also cut Reality Television including REMIX for BET.

For the last few years Jonah has had extensive experience both cutting and doing all the graphics in Direct Response. Working for Hawthorne Direct, Beach Body, Raymond Entertainment and cutting an award winning Milwauke M-12 Impact Driver show for 3 and 2 films. He specializes in doing graphics as well as editing, and has been very prolific.

Jonah is always learning the latest and greatest software and trying out the best plugs-ins to keep his skills up to date, and is an avid reader of both fiction and technical books.

Jonah has also served as a panelist fro the IFP Los Angeles Digital Seminars and at a a Colloquium for the University of Central Florida, Summer Film Internship Program with UCLA and Professor Robert Jones.
